As we are getting closer to the Christmas, It means its gifting time. People spend a lot of money in buying gifts, which do not fill the purpose or which doesn't spark joy. Every year tons of gifts end up in the land fill. Its mainly because people doesn't really need the item you actually gifted. Here i come up with very simple, sustainable Eco friendly gift ideas i.e plants, yes there are two such plants that are worth gifting especially during the Christmas time. Plants add colour, Life and cheer to your home on the chilliest of days.

Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera): These are small genes of cacti. They mainly bloom during this time hence, their name. These plants have beautiful flowers, and available in various colors. With proper care and attention this plant will continue to grow for many years (perennial plants).  Christmas cactus is truly a gift that is living and keeps on giving. 

  • This can be considered as a best gift cause this cactus is very budget friendly. 
  • This cactus is a low maintenance plant, its almost impossible to kill this plant. All it requires is indirect light and water only top soil is dry. As this belongs to cacti family it generally requires less water. 
  • Cactus requires humidity, Use humidifier. 
  • They can be easily propagated.

POINSETTIA :Also known as Christmas flower, well known for its red and green foliage. Widely used in Christmas decoration. These plants are sturdy with bright beautiful flowers and they stay fresh for much longer than cut flowers. they bloom all along the December.

  • These can thrive for years with right condition and care. 
  • Like Christmas cactus this plant is also a perennial plant.
  • Poinsettia likes warm temperatures between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • Always water your plant when the top soil is dry.
