What is immunity:- The ability to fight against the foreign body and protecting our body. White blood cells (WBCs) also called as leukocytes, are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body.Our immune system protects us from diseases caused by bacteria, virus, toxins and helps remove foreign bodies and malignant cells from our body.

**It is vital that your immune system is in good working order if you want to stay protected. There are several ways to strengthen your immunity naturally.

  • Getting enough rest . Good sleep (7-8hrs) is closely related to immunity.
  • Manage stress, excessive stress leads to release of free radicals into the blood stream. (Anti-oxidant diet helps in fighting free radicals) and meditation can help with managing stress.
  • Limit refined sugars intake (like consuming cold drinks, sweet treats, processed foods etc).
  • Moderate intake of alcoholic beverages. (Alcohol damages Epithelial cells, neutrophils in the gastrointestinal tract disrupting gut barrier function).
  • Engage in moderate physical activity, Physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways, this may reduce chance of getting cold, flu or other illness.  
  • Balanced and Healthy diet: Maintaining balanced diet keeps the immune system balanced. 
  • Intake of immune boosting foods like
PROTEIN: These are building blocks of immune cells. Diet lacking sufficient protein can seriously hamper immune function. 

ANTIOXIDANTS: These are powerful compounds in our foods that keep our immune system strong, they bind to free radicals and remove them efficiently from our body. Foods like berries, kale, broccoli, beans, spinach are rich in anti oxidants.

VITAMIN -C: This vitamin helps in growth and repair of tissues in all parts of our body. Heals wounds and form scar tissue. It helps in supporting our immune system. Foods like oranges, mandarins, lemons, kiwi, amla are some foods rich in Vitamin C.

Its potent anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial properties. Other health benefits includes wound healing, detoxifies liver, improves skin health etc. 

GARLIC:- Garlic contain a compound called allicin helps boost immune system. Garlic has been used as an antiseptic, antibacterial and anti fungal agent. It may help body resist or destroy viruses and other microorganisms.
