Pothos: Plant care &Growing guide

POTHOS
Pothos commonly known as money plant
They are easiest plants to grow. Pothos are hard to kill house plants with trailing habit and heart shaped leaves. They are amazing air purifiers. There are many variants available like golden pothos, marble queen pothos, neon pothos etc. Many people believe that this plant brings good luck and prosperity.
As they are excellent air purifiers, they help clean the air by absorbing formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide, which are commonly present in newly painted homes and they also helps in eliminating odors.
They grow well in bright indirect light, hence they are great addition to bedrooms and offices. Pothos doesn't actually have to be planted in soil, they do very well in water.

If you are growing pothos in water try changing water regularly i.e once in 4 weeks, add regular tap water. It is to be noted that plants grow faster in soil than in water.
PROPAGATION:
This is also one of the easiest plant to start propagating from cuttings. Select healthy stem and make a cut just below the node, remove the leaves closer to the node. Now place this cutting in water or directly plant it in the soil. These cuttings in water will mostly develop roots within 4-5 weeks, you may replant them in soil.
By cutting we can not only propagate but also helps grow a bushy plant(by stopping vertical growth and encouraging side growth).

Pothos like dry soil and add water only when the top soil is dry to touch. Always prefer well drainage pots and soil, as water logging may cause roots to rot. Fertilize the plant every 4-5 weeks just by adding all purpose plant food. Add fertilizer only to the potted plant not the plant growing in water.
